On Friday evening our fabulous choir sang on the main stage at the 2025 Beccles Christmas Lights switch on. What a wonderful start to the festive season and we've only just begun, lots more festive engagements for us over the next few weeks. Well done to all children involved.

Year 4 did some fantastic computing this week. We have been learning how to programme in Logo and we used some of our maths knowledge to create a range of shapes.

Year 6 have been busy with assessments this week. They have shown great resilience and should be proud of themselves. In Literacy, they have been using drama and interviews for their newspaper reports and in reading they have enjoyed some time with the class to read books of their choice and share with friends.

Online Safety Many of our children have access to the internet via a range of different devices. We know that some of our children are playing on games and using apps which are rated at a higher age than that of the pupils within our school. We continue to have concerns about two in particular, Whatsapp (16 years) and Fortnite (Pegi 12). Elements of these can expose children to risks, which we have seen in school. Please think twice before giving your children access to these. Additional information is attached.

A huge 'THANK YOU' to our visitors for our This Girl Can Club. Kim is our This Girl Can Ambassador for our area and came to share some information with the girl about her role and promoting sport/physical activity for girls. Please also see information regarding a local netball club in Beccles that Kim is involved with.

Nursery Owls had a wonderful trip to Beccles Quay this morning. We really enjoyed going on the mini bus. When we got to the quay, we walked along the river and looked for a stick that we thought would be a good stick to play pooh sticks. We went onto the bridge to race our carefully chosen sticks. We were lucky enough to see some fishermen! We spoke to the fishermen on the way past and watched them catch a fish. We had a beautiful walk along the river, looking at boats and met a funny goose making lots of noise. We then walked to the café and had a delicious hot chocolate. After this we walked to the park before travelling back to Nursery on the mini bus. Thank you so much to our parent helpers, we all had such a lovely time.

Reception Robins and Sparrows have been learning about houses and homes this week. We have found out about different houses around the world and looked closely at the construction and features of our own homes. We have had great fun making models of our homes too!

Some of our KS1 children had fantastic time at the North Suffolk Sport & Health Partnership KS1 Social Festival. The children took part in Tennis, Dancing, Tagtiv8 social games and partner work. The festival had a lovely vibe. The children enjoyed making new friends from other schools.

Year Three are so proud of our entry to the Hungate Christmas Tree Festival. Please go along tomorrow night or over the weekend to vote for Tree number 43. It is a Roald Dahl Themed tree with sweets, lollipops and candy canes. Year One have tree number 40 on behalf of Ravensmere and theirs is on the theme of the very hungry caterpillar.

Following on from Road Safety Week our JRSO will definitely 'Be Safe and Be Seen' in their new coats. They will soon be helping to monitor the use of scooters in the playground at lunch times.

Sporting Success Robyn and Freddie competed at a Dance Competition last weekend Robyn placed 4th in Song and Dance Freddie placed 2nd with his tap Dance. Congratulations to both of you on all the hard work.

Sporting Success Well done to Amarah who competed in her first gymnastics competition last weekend. She came 3rd out of the 10 in her year group. She is super pleased and cannot wait for the next competition. We are really proud of all the hard work you have put in.

Our Animal World visited Year 1 today to give them the opportunity to handle a range of animals from the book 'The Great Pet Sale'. The children will be using their knowledge of these animals to write postcards based around the story.

An amazing time was had by all today when some of the Year 4 pupils went to Snape Maltings for the Big Sing. We were incredibly proud of how well behaved all the children were and how brilliantly they sang. For those parents who would like to see a recording of the performance a link will be released in February which we will make available at the time.

Wonderful session of Balanceability with Reception today. We looked at attempting to glide on the bikes. This helped the children to learn the concept of weight transfer and effects of balance. Such Persistent Penguins!

Reception Robins and Sparrows have been retelling the story of The Three Little Pigs this week, we have had great fun acting out the story and remembering key phrases.

Some of the Year 4s went to Sir John Leman High school on Tuesday to take part in a basketball festival with some of the Beccles Bombers Basketball. We had a great time and everyone worked really hard learning new skills.
